This is not the picture I intended to get this day. I drove out to the tip of Point Reyes, California, one evening at sunset, for the express purpose of getting a picture of the famous lighthouse. I was hoping for a moody, fog-shrouded photo, but unfortunately, the walkway down to the lighthouse closes at 4:30pm, and the fog was so thick that evening that I couldn't even see the lighthouse at all from the gate at the top of the walkway.
I hated to drive all that way and not come home with any photo, so I snapped this shot of some windblown cedars framing an old wooden building (pumphouse?), as seen on the road a few hundred yards before you get to the lighthouse.
