Here's the driver's eye view.

The two modifications visible here both came from West Marine (a boating store). The compass is a Ritchie X-10. It's wired into the dashboard lighting system so that it's lighted at night.

The levels are actually clinometers, which is a fancy word for levels calibrated in degrees, so that you can read the amount of tilt. What's not clear in this picture is that I've painted a "green arc" showing the range where it's acceptable to run the refrigerator, with a red arc over the range with too much tilt. The propane refrigerator will be damaged if it's run for long periods of time with more than a three degree tilt port-to-starboard, or a six degree tilt fore-to-aft. The clinometers let me know at a glance whether my parking spot is safe for the refrigerator. An added bonus is that I can have a level stove for cooking, and a level bed for sleeping.

I got a box of ten "Lynx levellers" at Camping World. These are inch-high blocks that stack like Legos. I put them under the tires on the low side of the van, and they allow me to level the van out when there's no naturally level parking spot.
