For making hundreds of these ads cheap: Any of the ads, even the color ones, can be taken to a copy shop, like Kinko's, and they can run off hundreds or thousands of copies in a few minutes for just 3-5 cents a page for black and white, on plain paper. Bring them one of the highest quality copy you can get off your computer/printer, on the best paper, and they can do the rest. The color images will simply convert to black and white in the process. If you need help fine tuning this, or it's not working, contact the Arsenal, and we can help you out. Click here to find out more about getting custom ads and assistance.

Tips about what kind of paper to use:

(This assumes you have some kind of ink jet printer)

Plain, cheap paper: This costs about $5.00 for 500 sheets. It has kind of a gray cast to it, but it works OK for black and white text or images. Color images look a little off, and washed out.

High quality, premium ink jet paper. This is probably what it says on the package. This costs about $7.00 for 500 sheets, or about 1.4 cents a page. This paper is visibly whiter, and black and white text and images come out crisp and sharp. Color images are still not at their best, but it works.

Special "coated", "360 dpi" or "720 dpi" paper. It should say one of these on the package. Epson sells a package which costs about $13.00 for 100 sheets, or about 13 cents a page. Colors will now be much brighter and more vivid. This looks really good.

"Photo quality", "glossy" paper. With this stuff you can mimic photographs if you have a photo quality printer to match. This can cost $13.00 for 20 sheets, or about 65 cents a page. This isn't necessary, and the average person will go broke before long.

Tips on printing: If you think you need to make adjustments to improve quality, look in the printer's paper manual or 'help' or 'troubleshooting' section on your computer. Look for this choice when your printer's print window is open. Or just try different adjustments in the print window, and see what happens! There are usually adjustments for types of color, black and white, brightness and contrast, and other. Back to top of page

About Adobe Reader: It's a "universal translator": Adobe Reader is a special computer program which allows your computer to read, display and print files in Adobe PDF format. "PDF" stands for Portable Document Format. Without it, even if your computer could download a particular file, the formatting, colors, text, etc, might not come out the same.
