Poster Ads for download: Ginny Burdick is an anti-gun state senator in Oregon. She has recently been pushing a new law that would bar CHL licensees from coming onto school grounds. This Ad alerts the public to the illogic and danger of her approach. Please, Ginny, don't kill our kids! Commentary: By not dealing with the real causes of violence in our society, Such as cultural corruption by the mass media, "gun control" advocates insure that it will continue, endangering all our children. Scientific investigation and common sense have shown that media induced desensitazation to violence are the true cause of school shootings. Why didn't kids in the fifties blow away their classmates when there were no "gun control" laws at all? Any kid could send away for a military surplus M-1 carbine semi-auto rifle for about thirty dollars. "Gun free" zones around schools are utter idiocy. All they guarantee is that there will be no "good guns" to defend against potential lunatics who won't obey the law anyway. One school massacre was largely averted when a teacher ran to retreive his handgun from his truck, then ran back to confront the kid killer, who promptly surrendered. Why do mass killers stop when the police arrive? Because the police have guns! Studies have shown that the single greatest determining factor in saving lives during mass killings is how fast someone with a "good gun" can get to the scene. (John Lott, "More guns, less crime") There was a time in Israel when terrorist groups targeted schools for mass murder. In the Ma'alot incident, over 20 Israeli teens were murdered. Israel then began to encourage teachers to arm themselves, and set up other ways to defend the schools with armed force. The result: terrorists stop attacking schools. The best way children can be made safe against accidents with firearms is safety training from responsible adults in their lives, not "gun free" school zones. Draconion "gun control" laws which only restrict the rights of the law-abiding, deprive a child, on entering adulthood, of their unalienable rights, and help create a society of fear, crime, and dependency on government. By restricting constitutionaly rights, such laws also endanger the child's future, eliminating an essential "check and balance" on runaway governmental power, and increasing the possiblity they or their children might one day live under the boot of some future despotic regime.
