| October 27, 1999:
Nathaniel was diagnosed with AML (a rare form of Leukemia) just two days after his
eight-month birthday, on October 23, 1999. He initiated chemotherapy on October 24,
1999 at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento. After only a few days, it is
evident that he as a patient and we as a family are in for a tough road, due to the
effects of chemo and infections in a body that no longer has a functioning immune
system. We're thankful that he is a strong child, and that he, perhaps subconsciously, appears prepared for a fight. We are also thankful for the outpouring of support that we have received from our family and friends, which is sustaining us as we struggle to provide the courage, optimism and support that Nate deserves. |
