Huang Ti
The Yellow Emperor

'Huang-ti' is not a name, but rather a title.
It literally means 'Yellow Emperor'. For the ancient Chinese, 'huang' (yellow) not only
signified the land, but was also indistinguishable from gold. There may also have been a hint of sun-worship in the appellation -
not uncommon among the ancients. The translation 'yellow emperor' is not to be confused with another phrase 'August
Emperor', also pronounced 'Huang-ti'. 'Yellow' and 'August' are written using different characters.

Huang Ti Nei Ching Su Wen (Yellow emperor's classic)
The Huang Di Nei Jing; The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine was
compiled between 300 and 100 BC.
The Nei Jing, as it is more usually known, is divided into two parts:
Su Wen--"Essential Questions" which is more theoretical; and Ling Shu--
"Spiritual Pivot", which is more practical. It remains even today for the foundation
work for the theory and philosophy behind Chinese medicine

The Nei Ching Su Wen deals almost exclusively with philosophical concepts, many of which seem to be as important today as they were 2,000 years ago.

Legend says that the ageless Yellow Emperor was killed by a falling
stone in Sichuan, during a meteorite storm in 2697 b.c. Such meteorite
stones can be found throughout all of Asia, and it is common to have
eyes carved upon them looking towards the heavens.
