LUDGVAN LESE MANORIAL RECORDS 1688-1739

The Manor of Ludgvan Lese covered parts of the parishes of Ludgvan, St. Ives, Zennor and Towednack. The abstracts below are taken from LDS film #1471491.

First found below are some Rent Rolls from the late 1600s, which include entries marked off for persons who died after the original roll was taken, and sometimes shows who replaced the deceased persons as the next life on the estate, or the next taker of the property if the lives were expired.

A copy of allowances for 1706 shows names of some landholders in the Manor.

Lastly are abstracts of the Manor Court, which was held yearly in St. Ives. Deaths of tenants who held land of the Manor were presented, and the next life on the estate was confirmed. Also presented were persons who violated rules of the Manor;  they were usually given time to rectify their offense on penalty of a fine. All years also list the persons selected for "viewers of repairations" for the following year, and the early courts also selected a Reeve for the year ensuing. All those present at the court signed the court roll. The court rolls are extant for  1716 through 1739, with 1719, 1730 and 1737 missing.
